Laruian Dimension

The following is unfinished & WIP

I was there when the Laruian Dimension was first discovered...

At the time I was a twenty year old undergrad at Indigo University. It was year 2875... twelve years ago from the date of this recording for those who don't want to math. Anyway, I was working as an intern in a multiverse research lab under Professor Bentley Vicken and helped work on various prototypes of tech intended to search for alternate material planes of existence. It was fantastical, fanciful... and fruitless, of course. What else would it be?
But it busied the mind and scratched that itch of curiosity just enough to keep me around the campus and lab. The last thing we expected, I believe I'm speaking for Professor Vicken as well, was that we would actually discover something. The idea that we would actually breach into another dimension was something, stupidly enough, we were not prepared for. So when it happened, everything kind of went wrong.
I... don't think I'm really ready to recount the things I saw in those first early days. Nor what happened to Professor Vicken and some other associates. But I think sometime soon I'd like to talk about it. It would probably be good for me to get it out.
Right now I want to focus mostly on the alternate dimension and what we know about it. It's founding history is... let's just save that. Skipping ahead; the Laruian Dimension is still mostly a mystery to us even though people have come to blindly wield power from it any opportunity.

We do know that only select people can cross over...

...so basically everything we know about the Laruian Dimension comes from their personal accounts. It should be noted that I am not one of those people. A tiny percentage of the population, only people born during small windows of time, are able to pass through a Laruian Portal and remain alive. We call them the Three Gens, though it'll be Four Gens soon with a projected birth of another group. I intend to make a post about Laruia next, and I think I'll cover more details about the Four Gens there. Laruia being, any form of life that originated from within the Laruian Dimension.
The only way we can really study the Laruian Dimension is from word of mouth of those who have been inside so it's often hearsay at best and I think the general population have a skewed perception of it -- seeing it as a legendary place perhaps in the realm of divinity or at least immaterial rather than an actual place. But what I do know is that those who enter sometimes never come back. They die inside there, and those who come out often refuse to ever go back in again. It's been explained to me that the other side is a place of surrealism, with unrecognizable dreamlike landscapes and it is populated by a sparse yet diverse array of frightening life forms.
