The Nargrim Empire (Nahr-grihm)

Before the Days of the Sun, and before even the eras that proceeded it, there was the Age of Chisels, and with it, the Nargrim Empire. Stretching across all of what is now Veturoth, with a few small holdings past the western mountains, the Nargrim Empire was an expansive state established by the Gerdechev dwarves of Darskija that managed to last nearly 2000 years before collapsing in spectacular fashion and ushering in the Warring Province Period. Though warmongering, and heavily dwarf-centric, the Nargrim Empire was able to maintain it's power mostly peaceably, as their construction and infrastructure projects were known to drastically increase quality of life for most citizens and decrease risk from natural calamities such as crop failures and hard winters.

Little truly remains of the Nargrim Empire. Pieces of Nagrimi architecture can be seen in Veturoth's older cities, the Remnant Clans have carried on its core traditions and preserved its most important cities, and its culture has influenced those of the peoples they ruled, but its grand web of roads, fortresses, granaries, wells, canals, walls and other infrastructure lies in ruins, and few now remember the Empire as anything other than an ancient, lost civilization. Veturoth remains a land built upon ashes they no longer care to remember.

Structure

The Nargrim Empire was organized around the authority of the Emperor and his hand-selected delegates, the most important of which being the Iron Lords, who each commanded one of the 12 provinces.

The Nagrim Veskrel was the officially currency of the day, and are one of the more common remnants of the Empire that people stumble across. Consisting of square tin coins stamped with the crest of the province it was minted in on one side and the Emperor's visage on the other, they are something of a collector item these days.
