Pigeon Feathers

Often appearing out of nowhere, these simple grey feathers smell of dust and something foul. They are common across the world, however, remain a constant piece of debris near the churches and religious venues across the world of Thrae. The nuns and priests of the Judeo-Christian Church often complain of their frequent appearance despite pigeons never being seen.
There is however a mysterious rumor regarding these feathers. Some would deign the opinion that these feathers are a sign of espionage from foreign forces using the seed-brained birds as servants. Certain skeptical fanatics of this idea postulate that these feathers are left as some sort of magical signature via a powerful deity, but no known gods or patrons with pigeon symbols exist in Thrae.
Because of the mere strangeness of the feathers, many find it to be some type of blessing if you come across pigeon feathers. While the Judeo-Christian Church may be biased towards these flighty appendages, the common people often feel as if these feathers a blessing and not a curse. It is said that if you are gifted a pigeon feather by a flying bird, then you have been blessed with prosperity and victory in whatever trouble you face.
This fact may have influenced local village children to chase away pigeons in hopes that they drop feathers at their feet. No one in Thrae necessarily stops these strange rituals either since it's regarding such a common item. However, there are documented cases of members of the Judeo-Christian Church chasing away pigeons and making elaborate bird traps on top of their buildings in order to prevent birds from landing on their rooftops.
In comparison to the reactions of the Judeo-Christian Church, there are many people who welcome pigeons into their lands, putting out bird feeders in the more urban areas of town with the larger inns and shopping villas nearby. It always remains a mystery as to why pigeon feathers appear near the religious building in Thrae, but there has never posed any danger.

Significance

There is a secret to the feathers, but no one knows. Once again, many people find these feathers nearby religious buildings and as a result some find them ominous and others find them to be lucky. It is a matter of perspective, regarding these feathers, on what they truly mean. All that anyone knows is that they are not truly random and they must represent something. To what that something is, no one knows.

These feathers are extremely common, simply go behind a church, temple, or other place of worship and you are likely to find a pile of old grey feathers.
