Godshard
When a realm happens to lie on a crossroads, it is only natural that multiple deities have passed through it. Some have left, some have stayed, but all of them have left their mark in the very fabric of the Seven Systems. The Walking Gods, forgotten husks roam on the forbidden plateaus, aberrations can be seen up in the skies, and some gods even became the very earth itself. And then there are the godshards, magical crystals that are believed to be the crystallized bones of the godly dragons. These crystals can be found from various places around the world and are used to power spells, as well as in the creation of many magical items. They are also sometimes called dragon crystals or scale crystals.
Manufacturing process
Godshards are mined from deep within the earth, where they can be found in clusters in geode-like caverns. These Godshard mines are usually owned by individual families, who have created an empire from the shard industry. The Crown has their own shard mines, as well as the most important mage academies.
After mining, the shards are refined in a process similar to how gemstones are handled. Nothing is let to go to waste, and the side products of this process can also be used as a magical ingredient.
Significance
Godshards are one of the most important part of the magical economy of the Seven Systems, and the base for the magical advancements. They are used in everyday magical inventions, as well as in more rare items that are reserved only for the chosen few.
