Bellun

The Bellun were a nomadic people that have a habit of roaming some of the most dangerous places in all Seven Kingdoms, like the Sarcorro Desert in Kárydir, the Timewarp in the Rift, and Í Núvilvor in Irëduin. When Tywell I conquered the nomadic tribes at the beginning of the Third Age, the native Bellun were forced off the land that would soon become Tílunur (Predictably, history books omit this part of the king's takeover). They discovered some natural stargates, and travelled to the other Kingdoms, but where driven out of every hospitable place and were forced into the places mentioned above. And sometimes, they had no way of getting out. For example, the Sarcorro Desert was endless. Or rather, appeared to be endless. The desert contained a 'scrolling feature' that meant when you reached the end of the desert, you were instantly transported somewhere else in the desert, although you couldn't actually tell you had just teleported. So to travellers who weren't in the know, the desert appeared to be endless. This is the kind of environment the Bellun had been forced into.   The Bellun had created advanced technology that was suited to the harsh conditions. The Desert Bellun had, with the help of magic, created a water purifier that drew water from the air and purified it, making it safe to drink. The Mountain Bellun had made equipment adapted to the floating mountains, including climbing gear and proper clothing. And the Warp Bellun had crafted a device that helped anchor them in time and space.   Most Bellun tribes wore flowing robes, brown in the desert, grey in the mountains, and purple in the Warp. They carried customized weapons, which they used for hunting and self-defense against hostile animals. They had nothing to fear from people, as most didn't visit the places where the Bellun lived. The notable exception to this rule was the mountain tribe led by Ælfric, brother of Ælfnod, who led the tribe living in the Síldur Valley. But the Bellun had nothing to fear from Ælfric and his tribe; in fact, the tribe often traded with the Bellun. Bellun also wore a piece of cloth over the lower half of their face, leaving only their eyes visible. This veil was part of their homage to the god of their religion. The only time they removed the veils was to eat.   Although the forceful relocating of the Bellun was largely absent from all history books, when Starflame met these people and heard their story, he made sure to correct every source he could find that contradicted the real events. However, the story of the Bellun is, and always will be, tragic.
