The Starfall of Sanriel

Many years ago, just off the edges of the peaceful town of Sanriel, something crashed into the earth. At first it looked like a falling star in the sky, and people gathered to watch. But as it grew brighter, and larger, their wonder turned to fear. Before long, they realized it was hurtling towards them, and before they could do anything about it, it crashed to the ground, not but a few miles away.   The effects were immediate. The earthquake this collision caused wreaked havoc on the homes and shops, breaking even the stone wall that kept them safe. The ground continued to quake, though not with nearly the initial force, for hours. Dust filled the air. The people, those that had survived the initial damages, thought they would have to abandon their town entirely.   A few of them, however, along with a pair of adventurers that were in town when it happened, wanted to find out exactly what had caused this to befall their town. And so they pushed on, out into the dust and the broken earth.   It was a difficult journey to reach the crash site, but what they found when they got there was as amazing as the initial sight of the star falling through the sky. A strange, shining gem, in the heart of the meteor rock that had struck. It was blazing hot, but they managed to transport it back to town.   Over the next few weeks, the dust had settled, and the town was able to be rebuilt by those that had chosen to stay. Today, the town still stands, the strange gem, known as the Blazing Star, and the story of its origin their biggest claim to fame. People have come from across the midlands just to see it, and it has helped the town grow richer and larger than it was before that night the star fell.
