Vigil Island

The wildlife on that reef is just as weird as the savages who live on it. Wouldn't be surprised if their crops are for voodoo too.

Geography

It is a reef that emerges from the south Atlantic ocean. Like the other islands in Sky Archipelago, it has an equatorial climate.
There is a constant humid fog in the area especially in the morning and evening hours.
Due to its distance from Castover Island not many people bother to travel there except to poach exotic animals.
Even then, poachers no longer dare to hunt for birds after hearing about hyenas lurking in the dark.

Fauna & Flora

Before it was inhabited, Vigil Island was previously full of parrots, tiny monkeys, and brilliantly colored snakes. A particular type of jewel beetle also lived there.
As far as plants were concerned before habitation, the usual tropical ferns and hardwood trees grew there.
Due to the Brosseau family dabbling in alchemy, Vigil Island is now covered in hallucinogenic plants, especially mushrooms and heavily scented herbs. Occasionally one could see bushes of imported flowers that originated from the African mainland's jungle.
This was nothing compared to their hyena packs now making a pest of themselves on the island by biting both local wildlife and foreign visitors.

History

Previously uninhabited until the Brosseau voodoo family and their entourage turned up around 1827.

Tourism

The Brosseau family and the rest of the Vigil families do not like visitors unless the chieftain has personally vetted said visitors.
Someone lucky enough not to become voodoo sacrifice would likely be staying in the chieftain's house, a large atap-and-sticks structure reinforced with mud.
