Dragon Bat

Basic Information

Anatomy

A muscular beast with a max wingspan of 15 feet. The creature has large wings which end in claws that are perfect for climbing as well as fighting. In addition to the wings the beasts have powerful hind legs and can launch the creatures many feet into the air, and are capable of carrying prey. It's mouth is lined with sharp teeth, that are fit for tarring flesh.

Genetics and Reproduction

These beasts are mammals and reproduce in the same way as other mammals. It's gestational period is ten months and the females can continue to hunt throughout the whole pregnancy.

Growth Rate & Stages

The creature grows quickly, it is an infant and reliant on it's parents for the first year of its life. After that the creature has a wingspan of 3 feet and can hunt small animals by itself. They are almost indistinguishable from other bats for the first 20 years of its life as they slowly grow. They reach sexual maturity at the age of 20 and by this time their wingspan is close to 7 ft. At this time there growth slows down but they still continue to grow though out their whole lives.

Ecology and Habitats

They live mostly in caves, though stay near a forests as most of their pray lives in forested areas.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The species are predators, they eat only meat. They can survived fairly long between meals but are the top hunters in what ever area they live in. With the tendency to be fairly solo creatures they can be in groups as large as four. They hunt at night and use their hearing to target a creature then attack, killing their prey before bring the body back to their caves to feast.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The creature has excellent hearing and uses it the most for hunting. It can pin point noises from creatures from far away and only uses it's sight to supplement it's hearing and not fly into anything.
