The Illustrious Zook Bafflestone
Zook Bafflestone was as much of a performer as they were a creator and artificer. Much of what is known of them was contained within propaganda pieces and Stone Industry company literature. The real-life of Zook Bafflestone was, at best, normal prior to his founding of Stone Industries. They were born into the family Bafflestone to parents Nackle and Aenid. Nackle Bafflestone was a serviceable Artificer and Zook's first mentor. Aenid was a member of the local government and their income was enough to allow Nackle and Zook freedom to explore Artificery. Zook was apprenticed to a master artificer named Timothy Tosscobble once their aptitude and skill surpassed Nackle. Under the tutelage of Tosscobble, Zook thrived and came into his own as a serviceable Artificer for the local region. Zook Bafflestone's greatest achievement came by way of his founding of the first artificery company focused on mass production of small and easily replicable artificery items.
From this point on the history and knowledge of Zook Bafflestone becomes difficult to separate from the company propaganda. However, rumors dogged Bafflestone for the rest of their life and consisted mainly of stories that Bafflestone would hire promising young artificers and use the discoveries they made to further his own legend and stature.
Throughout history, though mostly forgotten by our time, there has been one gnome to stand heads and shoulders above the rest on the strength and creativity of their mind alone, The Illustrious Zook Baffelstone. They were the first humanoid to consider the possibilities of corporate domination on a planes-wide scale. They championed the mass production of basic artificery for public consumption. Their revolutionary automatons were so far ahead of their time that current technology across the planes barely even competes. The ripples of creativity they created still reverberate through the planes and, though nearly forgotten, still could shake the foundations of artificery today.
