Sorcerer's Senate

Within the walls of the Sorcerer's Sanctuary, the largest city of magic-wielders in the world, a ruling body exists. These individuals acts as representatives of the citizens, devoting all of their time and energy into ensuring the legislative integrity of the mega-city. Made up of a diverse array of sorcerers, these 30 senators discuss, deliberate and decide on matters regarding legislative, judicial and foreign interest. Holding equal power to the other governmental bodies within the mega-city's structure, their jurisdiction is clear and precise. Seldom at odds with any of the other governmental bodies, the political structure within the Sorcerer's Sanctuary is a well-oiled machine, managed and directed from several positions - all designed to ensure transparency and a fair system.   The senate itself is ordered into a simple hierarchy; with 4 individuals sitting as High Senators, 4 scribes (one for each High Senator), 2 Judicial Senators, and then 20 seats divided equally for the 4 dominant sections of the society. This structure was designed to achieve a system that represents all equally, while still remaining immune to bribery, coercion and extortion.    A stellar track-record thus far, the Senate have proven themselves to be a shining example to the larger societal structures of the world. Although, not without their own secrets, the Sorcerer's Senate remains one of the few governmental bodies to be respected by its people, high and low. Even with a few dissenters among the local populace, the system they maintain allows all an opportunity to redeem themselves from past transgressions.    They aim to ensure that the wealthy never achieve an oligarchical authority, and that the less-privileged never lose hope. Each person's success should be entirely within their own hands; dedication and integrity paving the way for any individual to achieve a good life.
