Figure of Umbalzun

Significance

The symbol of Umbalzun represents both the god Himself and His role in the universe. Two lines represent his body, while the middle sphere represents both his head and the world. The outer spheres symbolize the sun and moon, the two bright bodies that bless the earth with their light - one gold and another silver. Before the Fahris people accepted the word of Selemir, two of the most powerful gods were Dhamari and Aqathal. While Dhamari was the god of the sun, Aqathal was the god of the moon. According to Fahris myths, the brothers often quarreled. Many of the other gods supported one or the other and the last war nearly destroyed the world and ended all life. Umbalzun, a god of fertility and the earth, lamented for the suffering of his people. He intervened, confronting Dhamari and Aqathal. When both refused to back down, Umbalzon defeated them and absorbed their power.   Umbalzun spent a long time afterward hunting down and defeating the gods who betrayed the world in pursuit of power. Although he managed to slaughter many minor gods, he could not overcome the gods representing the wandering stars. They fled as far as they could, so they are further away than the sun and moon. Umbalzun is now the sole presiding god, responsible for all the facets of life and the world. He became the supreme and only deity worthy of worship. Thus, the symbol of Him was created to emphasize his new role. While the protector of the world, He also watches over the sun, moon, and stars. Should the other gods wish to return to the world, Umbalzun will be more than ready to crush them and become the supreme power in all of existence. His faithful flocks pray to him regularly, ensuring He knows how grateful humanity is for saving their lives.   The symbol is secret because those outside the faith don’t understand its exact meaning.
