Shining Orb of Ood

Not everything lies in a position where the light of the four suns can touch it. Those places, so legends tell, are where the Shining Orb of Ood wonders. Deep below the surface, in caves that have never seen light, there the Orb resides to bring light into darkness.

Summary

After Ood created the additional three suns to protect the people from darkness he spotted a flaw in his plan. As there was no night anymore the people moved down into the earth to protect themselves. But there his gaze couldn't observe them, and he would miss evil that could breed. Again he felt sad and frustrated to the point where he began to cry. His tears dropped to the ground as all four suns watered up. But as they hit the floor they didn't vanish into the soil. They started to light up and float into the air. They started to wonder the surface in search of darkness they could illuminate, finding caves and caverns into which they descended and where they could repeal darkness. From this day on hundreds of small orbs roam underneath the surface, never resting, always glowing in the light of Ood.

Historical Basis

Sighting of an Orb is extremely rare. But while the clergy insists that the Orbs exist, others attribute the reported sightings to sightings of a kind of luminous bug which lives underground. This bugs head lights up in a bright light so that it attracts small prey. Smaller expeditions have been conducted in search of the Orbs but not one could yield any results. At the moment everything is considered speculation until proven otherwise.
