The Baderian Peaks

The Baderian Peaks are a series of unconnected mountain 'ranges' and peaks in Southwestern !!!!!. They are known for their harsh conditions, steep slopes, and remoteness. Because of these unique conditions, the flora and fauna within the peaks are also quite unique. There are fjords that cut into the mountains, high cliffs, and countless rocks in the water, making ports impractical.   There are three cities located in and near the Baderian Peak: Nalge, Alden, and Vireo. Nalge, the smallest of the three is located the furthest to the West and is deepest in the mountains, making it the most remote. Alden, the furthest South, is slightly larger but is still quite remote. Vireo, the largest, is located to the Northeast of the mountains and even has a port and a larger road leading into some of the largest cities and markets. All three rely heavily on extracting resources from the peaks and selling them into larger brewing markets.   Despite the peak's relatively small size (up to ~7,000 ft.), they are remarkably difficult to either summit or get through. This is partly due to the extreme and deadly weather found in the Peaks. Being located right off the coast, they get slammed with unpredictable and heavy rain and snowfall. They also get some of the strongest winds in the world that come whipping through the narrow valleys beneath the peak, bending over trees and knocking over people and other animals. This weather, along with very few roads or trails, makes traveling in and out of these cities almost impossible without a local guide. It also makes moving a military or other unwelcome group into the cities, especially Nalge and Alden, very impractical.   Because of these unique and harsh conditions, the plants found here are very rare and well adapted to the climate. The trees have strong roots, are shorter, and bend away from the ocean because of the strong winds. The plants that grow here are extremely well adapted to the cold and to being buried under the snow, they are often small grasses, flowers, and mosses that don't require much sunlight and can withstand strong winds. One of these flowers, the Banded Goldenrod, is the most valuable plant in the whole world. When combined with other more common plants, and brewed just right, it creates the most valuable potion in the whole world. Other unique and valuable plants include the Stink Bower, Red-stemmed Cascara, and the Snow Currant.   The animals found here are also quite unique, including the Baderian Hawk, one of the fastest and largest birds in the world. They have been known to attack unwelcome visitors to the Peaks who don't give bread when they pass through. Other common animals include the Snowshoe Hare, Western Mountain Lion, and Big-Horned Manatee.
