Lesym's Quill of Conscious Thought

Lesym's quill of Conscious Thought, or just Lesym's quill, is made from a flight feather of a phoenix's right wing. One can write with the quill, but only the author's thoughts will be recorded. Lesym would use the quill to gain the upper hand of knowledge by allowing others to write with it.
— A typical passage that might appear in a tome about god items or as a footnote for Lesym
Lesym's quill is a strange item. It is rumored that the feather for the quill came from a phoenix's right wing. The rumors are irrelevant to it's features, but it's impossible to find a passage about the quill without a mention of a phoenix. The quill's feather is large and colored in reds and oranges. It feels good in the hand and practically begs the holder to beginning writing with it. The beginning of writing with Lesym's quill tends to go as expected. The writer begins with a clear idea of what they plan to write. As the mind starts to wander, the hand with the quill keeps moving. It demands that the stream of consciousness be written. Every thought, every tangent. The passage would end with the user realizing that they are writing their stream of thought, or perhaps simply when the writer got bored.   The existence of the quill is a bit of a question, as Lesym is colloquially the god of ambition, not knowledge or thoughts. How or why this god has the quill is unclear. The agreed upon theory is that the quill would allow Lesym to gain knowledge about another. By gifting the quill or allowing someone to write with it, he could then read their conscious thoughts. If this was the case, however, it's unclear why the pen would not just compel the user to write what Lesym wanted to know-- their secrets, or plans.   There are no known documents written with Lesym's quill of conscious thought. Although how one would know it was written by the quill is unclear. It is presumed that they were all destroyed or else in the possession of Lesym. There are likewise no myths that hinge around the use of the quill, and it is not clear how knowledge of its existence came to be known. Like all god-rumored items, then, it is not truly clear if the quill actually exists or if it was just made up by a creative scholar.
