Alba Regia

a city is nestled on the shore of a small island lying in a circular sea.
The caldera known as Moth is a formation of landmasses almost circular in shape, and surrounds a ruined volcanic island also called Moth.
This city is called Alba Regia.
Formerly the city of Alba Regia was the capital city of the islands of the Moth caldera, and was the home of the adventurer who found her, the seafaring adventurer from the Histian islands, Gallio Octavius Regia. He had been searching for the shortest route between two continents when he had embarked on his vessel - along with three others which were either sunk during a storm or had turned back due to lack of supplies.
For over a century after the city was founded, it lasted as the capital of the island chain, and Gallio himself lived and ruled over the city for the rest of his life, succeeded by his nephew Spurius Pupius Donicus as the overseer of Alba Regia. But in more recent times, after the city was destroyed in a severe storm during the mid-fourteen-hundreds, the city was left to ruin and to fade away into the ghosts of the past. Some time later, believed to be in the mid-fifteen-hundreds, the city was rebuilt, but not as the capital city of the islands of Moth. Instead, the capital city was moved to the opposite side of the island and was named Arbor Felix, after it's founder, Arborius Fadius Felix who is a descendant of Donicus, the second ruler of Alba Regia. To this day, Arbor Felix remains as the island's capital, but Alba Regia now holds the claim to fame of another point of interest in the large and historic caldera. Alba Regia now resides as a pleasure resort.
Since the early sixteen-hundreds, Alba Regia has resided in the caldera as a vacation resort, offering all manner of pleasures and opportunities for those who travel there to escape the tedium and continuity of the outside world lying beyond the siren-esque calls of the people who live in Alba Regia as well as the other towns and cities that dot the islands that create the caldera's ring. Some of the amenities offered by the seaside resort include: Gaming centers, spas - accommodating couples or single individuals with split sections for each - casinos, nightclubs, massage parlors, fine dining, cinemas, historical sites - such as the dockyard where Gallio's ship, the Egremont Castle is docked and preserved as a floating museum - over seven miles of beachfront - some of which is hidden by tree lines and other barriers as they have been marked as private or "Exposure" beaches - bars, taverns, amusement parks, golf parks and even a collection of picturesque hiking trails and hidden pleasure coves near the summits of the few mountains that adorn the island on which the resort rests. For over five-hundred years the city has played the part of being one of the most luxurious seaside resorts on the planet, and the indigenous people of the islands have played their own part in welcoming outsiders to their home which they share with those who run the countless offerings of Alba Regia.
An agreement has been kept between the people of the islands and the resort, that their own trade and lifestyle will not be infringed upon or threatened by expansion of the seaside resort to accomodate more people in other more distant locations. The islands of the caldera have always belonged to those who had first settled long before Gallio's adventure to the islands himself, and the people managing the resorts have maintained a level of respect to these wishes. The only exception made is when an individual or group makes an appeal to visit the native towns and cities of the islands. This process must be planned in advance however, and can lead to higher prices and extensions for vacations to the islands, as the natives may or may not accept the offer made by the vacationers to visit these relatively untouched civilizations.
The first major voyage to approach the islands of Moth was during a summertime vacation cruise onboard The Grandfather, the second ship in one of the most prominent shipping lines of the time, the Golden Star Line. Three-thousand-five-hundred passengers and crew were riding high and luxurious onboard The Grandfather, and when the natives first caught sight of the massive ten-deck iron-and-steel vessel and it's massive, iconic paddlewheels that adorned either side of the vessel's midship section. The captain, seasoned shipping veteran Theophilus Aubrey, was keen to reach the resort on time, but knew that the passage between the islands that was closest to the resort - a thin stretch of water only a few miles wide - would be a dangerous trial if the need to maneuver presented itself. The weather was mild on the day of their arrival, meaning that one more day would have to pass before the vacationers could depart to the resort. The next day, a small fleet of ships arrived alongside The Grandfather to collect the passengers, and from there they depart to the resort. The Grandfather in the meantime is allowed to dock at the city of Aecae, only a few miles away from Alba Regia.
Alba Regia is currently managed by Pompeia Octobrius, yet another descendant of the family of Spurius Donicus.
