Resurrector

There are many professions that one can take in Orya, and a few that are off limits. One such profession is Resurrector. It is looked down upon, and viewed with contempt by most, to work in this profession, and it is illegal in many kingdoms. Resurrector is exactly what it sounds like: someone who resurrects the dead. Becoming a Resurrector is a lengthy process, and must often be done in secret. Necromancy is a required school of study for this profession, and must generally be paired with Healing as well. Both of these schools of magic must be practiced up to at least Expert level, as any magic lower than that is incapable of performing true resurrections.
This profession became illegal in many kingdoms at different times, but the reasons were generally the same. Those being it is considered disrespectful to resurrect someone that has died, and doing so causes severe repercussions upon the person who does it. Death doesn’t like to be cheated, and will punish anyone attempting to do so very heavily. In some scholarly analyses of why this law came into being, it is theorized it was done more to protect the person who would perform this ritual than to punish them.
Those that have been found to practice this profession in a jurisdiction where it is illegal will be punished in a variety of ways, depending on where they got caught. Under Human jurisdiction, Resurrectors are executed by the High Executioner. Under Aldmeri jurisdiction, Resurrectors are sentenced to not more than 20 years in prison per person resurrected. Under Cragmeri jurisdiction, Resurrectors are branded and forbidden from entering any villages belonging to the Cragmeri. This same punishment occurs under Wudmeri jurisdiction as well. Under Dwarven jurisdiction, Resurrectors are punished by exile. All other territories allow Resurrectors in some form or fashion.
