Travok, The mounain of madness.

"None dare mine that mountain, for deep within its bowls lies incredible evil. To even speak the name invites misfortune. Those foolish enough to tempt fate are never seen again...those that are become walking nightmares." - Tavern patron on the lower ring in Hammersong.

Avarice. Long ago the dwarven people of MT Travok discovered an incredible precious metal. Pitch black it drank in the light greedily and without restraint. However the properties of the metal were incredible, it was light and it worked like a dream. When hit it was resilient and when swung it flew like the fables of dragons described. Gifts of this metal were given to the other dwarven mountain clans in small quantities. But after the gifts were received the dwarven clans of Travok were never heard from again. The snows turned black and the land became silent, Travok became the mountain of ever darkness.

Black Snow. The snows of the region of Travok are pitch black. While studies of this phenomenon have been conducted by the wizards of Hammersong results have come back inconclusive. Expedition requests have been made to the headmasters of the Hammersong university to gather more samples from closer to the mountain of Travok but all requests have been denied due to the danger that such an expedition.

Warped Wilds. The surrounding wildlife has been warped and changed, flora and fauna physiology has been changed drastically. Bears no longer have skin and fur but carapaces, Trees have tentacles, mouths, and eyes. While studies have been conducted on the phenomenon the reason for this is not apparent. Many anti-magic factions blame the arcane and call to the explosion of practices within Rhen Moriloth at the very least. Though without evidence to confirm the correlation of the two Bodril has declared that the continuation of arcane study is to continue.

Dissonant Whispers. Many reports tell of dissonant whispers being heard while in the black snows. The closer you are to MT Travok the more intense the experience. These whispers can cause pain, madness, and even death.

Of Travok. Metal from MT Travok is incredibly rare. Many claim to have the metal of Travok though most are untrue whether known or unknown to the owner.

Dark Wanderers. It is said that if you were able to survive the warped wilds and dissonant whispers and make it to the mountain of madness that you would meet the mountain folk of old. Ravaged by the corruption of Travok, they would kill you on sight, eat your flesh, bathe in your blood and rend your soul. These dark ones are said to sometimes wander from their realm and bring devastation to all in their path. to this end, patrols are set around the borders of this realm under the order of Bodril.
