Renewing

Renewing

Renewing was a method that the elven sorcerers invented, wherein ingredients were mixed to create a paste that would completely heal the user momentarily. It was used frequently by the elves during the war but is most known for being used in the Battle of Hallows, where it was named the Elven Curse

Use

During the Rayless Age, a well known elven physician, Tarnu, created the first prototype for the potion. Tarnu worked for the elven army and tested it first on dying elves. The results varied. On some elves, the wounded recovered and after a few hours were back in their normal state. On others, the elves simply died. Tarnu made modifications and tested it once again. As the war went on, Renewing was used to quickly revive badly injured elves so they could keep on fighting in battles. Of course, the said elves would soon revert to their normal state after a few hours.   After the first prototype, many other elven physicians took up this practice. The methods used were kept in secret from dwarves and dragonborn and even for elves it was hard to learn.   Renewing was used by the elves in the Rindin, pre Battle of the Hallows. It allowed the dwarf healers to think that the elves were helping truthfully but the dwarves being healed quickly lost strength. Because they were only using a potion for the dwarves, the elven sorcerers did not expend their powers unless they were healing those of their own kind.

Makeup

The ingredients of the potion used in Renewing have been argued upon by scholars for years but most believe that the main part of it was ground Undai horns. Many also believe that dart frog blood and uthen leaves were mixed in. However, this is hard to verify since some ingredients changed over time and varied throughout the different potions.
