Azurian Coins

The coins of Azura are similar to other coins, in their weight and material. Their designs though simple are individual to the kingdom. Symbolism has always been of vital importance to the port city, its heritage is shown in most items created here in one way or another.
Copper coins are round with 8 small Divets cut at equal intervals across the edge of the coin, representing the 8 families that founded the settlement when the city was in political turmoil and distress. the face shows a 7 pointed star connecting the holes to each other, as Adrianna did those families of old. The singular hole alone and separate represents the family that refused her offers of peace, conspired against the city with the King of Makuis, and lost their titles, power, land, and future in doing so.
Silver coins are also round, on the face a profile of Queen Adrianna in her youth, on the reverse a silver dragons head its head frill reaches to the rim of the coin, the image of Adrianna's dragon that aided her conquest of Azura.
Gold coins shaped as 4 pointed stars appear larger than the average gold coin but contain the same amount of raw material. One side shows the symbol of Lathander, a road passing into the sun. The reverse shows the profile of the monarch that sat the throne during the time of its making, current coins show King Erban Vistorious.
Platinum coins are circular and have a hole in the centre, a ring of engraved waves adorn the edges, these are the simplest of the coins with no large portrait or image. These coins have remained the same for many generations, leading most people to believe that none have been made in decades. The speculations are correct, the city though rich is beginning to decline in wealth though the pwers in charge would never admit the case to be so.
