Senva Square

You've lived your entire life in Harmonil and you've never set foot in Senva Square? What kind of vanilla life are you living? Never mind that. Once you're done with Claw business, go enjoy yourself and come back a changed man. That's an order.
— Markus Kilmt
Senva Square is an entertainment district in Harmonil.

History

Birth of Harmonil

As Harmonil grew into the capital of the Queendom, so too did the need for upstanding citizens to have a place to let off steam away from official business. Senva Square started as a few bars, a brothel, and a gambling parlor but would quickly begin to grow as Harmonil did, branching out from the square via streets and alley ways. It became a place to find all forms of illicit activity, from illegal substances to gang activity to smuggling.

End of the Queendom

By the end of the of Queendom period, Senva Square had become a lawless place where authorities turned a blind eye to illicit activity. The buildings that lined the square were flashy and dazzling, meant to distract from what went on behind closed doors. Business owners of the district, powerful individuals or those with affiliations with criminal organizations, controlled what happened and were responsible for doling out their own punishments. Silver's Claw took advantage of this lack of law enforcement and often held rendezvous in the district. When the Queendom fell, any imperants holding power over the square suddenly found themselves powerless and soon dead. Much like the rest of Harmonil, Senva Square fell into chaos with gangs once again fighting for territory. The once flashy buildings that lined the square fell into disrepair, and the district forgot its entertainment roots, becoming only a home to violence and crime.

Rebuilding

With the capital of the new Confederacy moved to Deamei City, Harmonil was left to rebuild itself without the support of the rest of the country. For decades, the city was in turmoil. As investors began to take interest in the rebuilding of the old capital, Vinehive Entertainment Industries saw the potential in reviving the old entertainment district. It bought up the entirety of the area surrounding the square and hired what amounted to a private army to drive out the criminals and rebuild the square.

Modern Day

Modern Senva Square is still controlled by Vinehive Entertainment Industries. The company owns all of the buildings facing the square and either operates businesses out of them or rents them out at exorbitant prices to others. Senva Square itself is an attraction that brings tourists to Harmonil and there's something to do at every hour of the day, but those unfamiliar with the area should be careful not to wander too far off the square.

On the Square

The square is home to a casino, hotel, and theater, as well as a wide selection of bars, restaurants, and shopping venues. There is also a small museum about the history of Senva Square. During the year there are a wide variety of events held on the square from music festivals to art fairs to public markets.

Off the Square

Within a one-block radius of the square are still popular but less flashy clubs, restaurants, shops, and massage parlors. Everything within that radius is under the protection of Vinehive Entertainment Industries. Past that, Senva's illicit roots begin to show. Those looking for more taboo kinds of pleasure frequent these streets and gang activity is present. So long as the illicit activity remains within the boundaries of the district and doesn't affect tourists, authorities ignore it.
