Aten

A silvery and grey rock in space, Aten is the sole natural satellite of Kostea. Located in orbit above Kostea, it has been observed by Humans since the dawn of time, and at times even worshiped. In stark contrast to Kostea, Aten is a lifeless object, devoid of an atmosphere and water, making life impossible. No human have ever set foot on the moon, however in recent years the governments of Kostea have banded together to launch rudimentary probes to its surface, though few have survived the trip, and none have managed to return.
Scientists have not yet solved why these probes fail to return, but the current hypothesis is that the dust located on the surface of Aten has properties that weighs down or restricts the probes' movements, denying them the ability to return.

Geography

A grey,lifeless surface, Aten is littered with craters. Due to its lack of atmosphere, there is nothing to stop asteroids and other celestial objects from crashing into the surface. Aerial observations of the surface have revealed a pair of large canyons along the north and southern region. Exploration of these locations has not been performed, as precise landings for probes are nearly impossible, and any further movement is entirely impossible. A probe mission that did successfully land within range of the southern canyon soon lost contact with Kostea, for unknown reasons.

Natural Resources

Covered in gray and silver rocks and dust, exploration of Aten has not been complete enough to establish if it possesses any useful resources. What has been confirmed however, is that it posses no water,atmosphere,fauna, or flora, in contrast to Kostea.

History

Observed and worshiped by humans since the dawn of all known history, Aten is always guaranteed to be seen in the sky, primarily at night but also during the day at certain times. Its origins shrouded in mystery, it appears to have one been a free floating object, similar to that of an asteroid, that was ultimately captured in the gravitational well created by Kostea. Legends and myths relating to the moon have been created for years, ranging from beliefs that the moon can aid in healing, to those that speak of some kind of horror that would be unleashed when Kostea,the sun, and Aten are in perfect alignment.
