The Lake of Origins
The Lake of Origins is widely accepted as the source of the Oa. It lies at the very center of the Naayu, at the planet's core. It appears simply as a brilliant pool of light, about 8 foot by 8 foot in width, but the extent of its depths are unknown. Looking into the lake, one never sees a reflection, and the lake is always perfectly still. To the Oaran people it is considered the most holy place in the universe, and is treated much like a supreme deity.
Only the chosen monarch and other architects are regularly allowed to enter the Origin Sanctuary, the 'building' housing origin lake. To get there requires navigating through the Naayu, something only an individual highly attuned to the Oa can do successfully.Lorkan is the only known individual ever to access the Sanctuary without formal training, having done so at the age of seven.
The Origin Sanctuary itself appears as a room with 16 white wall panels, each of equal width and height. The floor, also white, is empty aside from the lake in the center. There is no sound within the room, and it has no windows to view the chaos beyond. It always smells as if it has just rained. No dirt can color the walls or floor no matter how hard one tries. It is a place of meditation, reflection, and learning for those who travel there.
According to the widely believed Origin Myth, the first inhabitants of Ylis emerged from the Lake of Origins into the Naayu, and had to learn to shape their surroundings. This is how the planet Ylis was supposedly created.
