Old Bailey, London
Located in the centre of what used to be the Capital city of the world's largest empire. Indeed quite arguably capital of the world itself. The Old Bailey has long stood as a symbol of justice for the people of England. underneath its dome many a case from the dull and everyday, to the outrageous, scandalous, chilling, salacious, terrifying, mediocre and, any other adjective you wish to pick. They've all been heard under the dome topped by blind Lady Justice, verdict returned and scentence passed, whether for good or ill of those concerned.
Though the revolution has brought much change to how the law in Great Britain works the grand old court still stands as a reminder of the enduring nature of the law. As well as, in the minds of some, of the regime that once protected that law, now in exile across the sea. However the government has forever had more pressing issues to deal with it seems, and a court is a court so why not use it while it's still there? It can be replaced easily enough sooner or later. Many of the new great and good (though equal of course) would rather it were sooner but admit it must be later. Such projects are expensive and money is one thing the Council of Workers Unions has always lacked since taking power a decade ago.
Thus the Old Bailey remains, an old reminder of old times and old laws that, for all that has changed can still be remembered and which even after so much turmoil and terror, still remains a symbol of justice , though not, perhaps, the justice that the powers that be (in London anyway) wish for people to remember. Reminiscing is problematic for progress after all.
