Deadheaders

The Deadheaders are the elite imperial guard to the Microsian Emperor Paolo Trástaleon. Nominally they are a unit within the Microsian Agronomist Corps, the primary fighting forces of the empire, but they serve adjacent to chiefs of the Microsian military rather than underneath them. The Dead Headers have a reputation for being the most brutal and cunning of the Microsian forces and often act as de facto military governors in the occupied provinces.   Deadheaders are rarely seen by the public and are sometimes thought to be mythical authority figures used to keep the citizens of Microsia in line without the use of force. The Deadheaders are very much real, however, and stalk the halls of the Gilded Palace in Micros, guarding the emperor's chambers and following his direct orders. They are often sent on the most dangerous missions to retrieve artifacts and trophies for Emperor Trástaleon and to observe the progress of the Blight on unoccupied and targeted regions.

Composition

Equipment

While many high-ranking officers in the Agronomist Corps carry some form of herbicide ward or poison to take on Florin enemies, the Deadheaders possess potent anti-botanicals that can kill Florins outright within hours or days. The poisons are not well-understood and appear to operate via magic, despite Microsia's extreme anti-magical policies.

Structure

There are only 12 Deadheaders at a given time and they are separated into four units of three. Each team is named for one of the four over-seasons in Girasol, Primva, Venara, Otun, and Invarus, and within each team there is a formal leader who embodies the height of the eponymous season. The High Primva is nimble and fluid, carrying many small daggers; their team moves in and out of areas with stealth and rapidity. The High Venara is aggressive and wields a strange Microsian invention which spits flames without the need for magic; their team is often used as shock troopers. The High Otun is methodical and expected to have a strong mind for logistics. They wield a great cudgel and their team often arrives to support and augment frontline operations of the Agronomist Corps. The High Invarus, stern and cold like fresh steel, is the Major Commander of the Deadheaders. Little is known about what the High Invarus does or carries, but wherever they are rumored to have been, desolation soon follows.
