The Forbidden City

In the West Taboo Mountain range lies a city shrouded in skepticism and fear. The forbidden city is said to be an abandoned city with magnificent architecture and high walls that border the city's defenses. No man or woman is known to have ever stepped into the halls of the city in nearly 500 years. It is thought to have been the home to the brilliant temple of an ancient ruler before the time of division between God and man. The structures look to be made of fine glass and marble sculpting and beautiful statues mostly unrecognizable from a distance they have been examined from. No traveler has been known to return from a journey to the city and such that even the most daring individuals keep a visit off of their list. The forest surrounding the city is a dense greying tropical forest that climbs up the mountainside into staggering cliffs. There have been reports of billowing smoke leaving the walls and rumored movement, yet no one has returned with proof that the city remains active. Anyone who has gotten close enough to see will notice the walls are kept, the path is not overgrown, and the gate that tempts fate remains closed at all times.

Legend tells of a city, teeming with spirits of a lost civilization that keep the lands. Ghostly figures protecting the grounds in which they keep sacred. Some believe the land is cursed, and those who set foot within the city join the ghosts within. Forever tethered to the material plane as a servant for a hollow ruler. The mountains and forest surrounding it is home to some of the most dangerous in Cruyan. The city is almost guarded by beasts and monstrosities that lurk in the forest and leap throughout the canopy. In the dead of night, researchers say you can hear faint whispers and thunderous roars coming from within and surrounding the cities. Most remain cautious and heed the rumors to stay away. Others tempt faith, nearly all to return too fearful of what lies ahead or not to have returned at all.
