Aohr's Eye

Children and fools beware
Do not your actions without care
Aohr's Eye
Watching all from the sky
Will lay your schemes bare
— "Aohr's Eye" Author Unknown
Aohr’s Eye is a comet that is in a seemly perpetual orbit around Eirath. It makes its appearance in the sky every twelve years for a period of 10 days. During that time meteor activity increases dramatically. To those looking into the sky from the ground, the comet looks like an ivory white eye albeit with a tail, and the small meteors that come off it are Aohr’s “tears”. Depending on where the tears land, they have been known to either bring great prosperity or destruction.

Cautionary Tale

Parents use Aohr's Eye as a Cautionary Tale for their children. They warn the children that Aohr's eye is ever watching and if they misbehave Aohr will weep and she will rain destruction on the world, however if the children are good and obey their parents the tear will grant the land boons. Since children will only see Aohr's return once during their childhood the effectiveness of the tale is up for debate.

History

The primordial entity known as Aohr predates the arrival of the extant Gods. Ancient writings have been found that claim Aohr was at one time a protector of Eirath. Aohr embodied the heavens and it was believed she controlled the rising and setting of the sun. When the extant God's arrived, they made war with the primordial entities and deposed them. While her brothers and sisters were imprisoned, Aohr, not being of Eirath was allowed to keep her place in the heavens. She left Eirath, however she could not keep away. She returns every twelve years to see visit Eirath and while she is there she cries knowing what has been lost. Her tears rain down from the heavens and strike Eirath with the fury of a god.
