Bond Block

When the EarthDef breeding program first began, the scientists developing the hybrids that would one day become the soldiers ran into an issue with the genetics that were being lifted from alien species. Some aliens had bonding mechanics whereby when they identify someone as a mate, they naturally grow a bond to them that has a variety of side effects. Although this is generally a good mechanic in these alien species, the hybrids needed to be capable of mating with multiple females and also not be territorial or combative with other hybrids who mate with the same females.   To combat this, a hormone was developed to block the bonding mechanic. This hormone is administered to all hybrids and soldiers via their daily nutrition supplements and can generally last a full week in their system before it wears off, so most never have an issue with it. It is not 100% effective, however, and if a hybrid is in the company of a female for an extended period of time, typically in an emergency situation which is rare but not unheard-of, a bond may still form. The most common scenario where this occurs is in the medical bay of breeder stations, as this is where both hybrids and human women may cohabitate for extended periods of time. Many rules are in place to prevent it, but the hybrid and human population are unaware of the bond blockers, so they may not understand the rule and could potentially break it.   When a bond does occur to a hybrid on a bond blocker, a variety of reactions may occur, most of which are negative. They will have intense feelings for the woman in question, and these are oftentimes misinterpretted as rage/hatred, a feeling they're more familiar with. They may also feel an intense urge to mate that woman without comprehension of why they feel this way, which can cause a dangerous situation for the woman.   When the two are separated again, the hybrid will generally be able to return to their former life, although they'll most likely no longer have a sex drive. This is a non-issue for hybrids, as only soldiers are used for breeding purposes. However, if the highest-ranking members of EarthDef find out or if there is a dangerous incident that arises from it, the hybrid is generally euthanized.

Access & Availability
On all EarthDef ships. The diets of hybrids and soldiers are limited to only the nutrition provided by the dispensers, so the level of bond blockers is constantly monitored and regulated.
