Griffin Medical Clinic

Griffin Medical Clinic is an established private clinic with a staff of doctors and nursers who are experts in medical situations that are more magical in nature. Whether in need of something to ease The Stray or help you with a particularly nasty bite from a vampire, Griffin Medical Clinic is the place to go! Just head to Queen's Street in the old town and find the red sandstone building crushed between a book shop and a chemist with a gilded plaque with the words "Griffin Medical Clinic" engraved on it.

Purpose / Function

Since its establishment in 1836 by Doctor Philip Griffin, Griffin Medical Clinic has served the magical folk of City of Wintermuir and its surrounding areas in medical situations, that might arouse unwanted suspicion elsewhere. It works mostly as an outpatient department for non-emergency situations, while the more serious cases are treated in the specialized ward of The Royal Wintermuir Hospital, but is does have a few bed for overnight patients who need short monitoring. Next to the clinic is a chemist, where patients can easily get their medicine and potions after getting their recipes from Griffin Medical Clinic.

Alterations

While the architecture is mostly in its original Victorian condition - even though the city council at some point was very eager to tear everything historical down - the inside of the building has been renovated multiple times to live up to the modern standards. 

Architecture

Griffin Medical Clinic is situated in a Jacobethan styled building that is build of red sandstone. It is a rather narrow building with six storeys, one of them an underground cellar that was also used as a shelter during the Scottish Blitz in World War II. Two stone griffons gifted to Philip Griffin in 1854 guard the front door proudly, and many have sworn they can see their eyes following everything that happens on the street. 
The reception and the waiting room are located on the ground floor, with its black and white flooring in its original glory. The doctor's offices are on the upper floor, as well as the small ward for the few inpatients that the clinic treats.

History

Griffin Medical Clinic was founded by Philip Griffin in 1836 and has been in operation ever since. It has been running in the family, the current owner being Florence Griffin.
