Demigod Burnout Syndrome (DBS)

Demigod Burnout Syndrome is verifiably caused by the excessive or prolonged usage of the divine augmentation drug BOOST. Users of the drug report that over time the ceiling of their abilities lowers. If the drug is continued to be used past the point in which they begin to lose their abilities, the loss can become permanent and total in nature. A demigod can eventually lose all use of their natural abilities as the augmentation drug burns out their divine channels; leaving them unable to access their innate power at all.

It is possible, upon realization of diminished connection, that the patient can regain any and all lost power should they stop using the drug immediately. Due to the highly addictive nature of BOOST, this path is infrequently traveled and at this point further burnout is likely imminent.

DBS is not transmitted or communicable.

Causes

Overuse or prolonged use of the Divine power augmentation drug titled BOOST.

Symptoms

Most common DBS symptoms:
> Exhaustion
> Lack of energy
> Constant fatigue
> Reduced performance
> Reduced power potency
> Reduced aura
> Inability to make decisions
> Reduced initiative and imagination

Physical Symptoms:
> Dulling of natural coloration
> Dulling of divine features to the point of complete loss of abilities
> Sleep disorders (either insomnia or excessive sleeping)
> Lack of Libido
> Headache
> Joint aches


Other Symptoms:
> Listlessness
> Bitterness
> Cynicism
> Nightmares
> Family or relationship problems

Treatment

Drug treatments for DBS are currently unavailable. Currently, patients are self treating through isolation. Unfortunately, there have been few cases in which patients have recovered function of their divine abilities to their fullest power. Most patients are unable to resist the addictive properties that BOOST provides and with the diminished divine abilities, return to using BOOST to achieve their former heights until the symptoms of DBS compound to the point where they are unable to use their divine abilities at all.
