The Weighing Spire
Purpose / Function
The Weighing Spire is essentially one of a few "lawful courts" that exist in Centoria. It acts as a base for large or small altercations between multiple individuals. People can petition to the Spire to have their arguments witnessed by a local justice or authority figure who will then have a definitive say on the result of the argument and the remaining punishment. When a case is in session the clerics who service the building will cast a zone of truth and both people will be able to state their case. Not everyone has access to the Spire, along with being in a remote location within the Holy Empire, it is considered a facet of upper society, meaning only members of the upper class can even petition to have access to it. By bringing the case to the Spire both individuals swear a certain amount of service or money to the Spire, as is the price of having the truth uncovered.
Alterations
Originally the Weighing Spire was a small courtyard with a large 12 foot statue of a spire in the center. This spire statue at one point had the spell Zone of Truth permanently cast on it to affect all those in the court yard, with engraving on each entrance saying "The truth is here for those who seek it." In an attempt to expand the courtyard and in turn the Zone of Truth the magic was pushed too far and the statue was destroyed. The courtyard was then demolished and this building was constructed in its place to attempt to carry on the legacy of the original spire.
Architecture
The building is essential built like a large tepees with a flat top. On the top of the building is a statue that is an exact replica of the original statue.
