The Pentadel

The final frontier of the solar system. A red dwarf (Little Red) claiming five small planets. One earth like (though with constant hurricane winds), two brine worlds and a final set of methane worlds (much like titan). All planets are tidally locked to Little Red.    Although this is a star with it's own planets, Little Red is in orbit around Mēchy (at a close 25 AU) and thus is part of the main solar system.   The innermost planet boasts the largest population of all peoples living around the red dwarf. The majority of peoples living near cliff faces where they are shielded from the constant hurricane like winds. All foliage is red and black as the plants here are not spoiled with the same type of sunlight from the main star.    The fauna here are streamlined for working within the constant high winds with  filter feeding life serving as the exception, opting instead for heavy bodies which do not move much so as to feed on small organisms in the air.   The next two brine worlds are cold, salty and miserable for habitation. Corrosion is a constant issue for any equipment out here. The life on these planets resemble much of the life on the closest habitable world but with a high tolerance to salt. Most organisms filter out salt and have relatively fresh water in their bodies, making them edible to humans. These worlds too have constant winds.    At the rim of the system lies the methane worlds. Housing subterranean oceans of water under the rock hard crust of ice which are inhabited by carbon based life with water as a solvent. The surface has carbon based life with methane as it's solvent. Much research is being conducted to find out more about these organisms.   The name Pentadel is a portmanteau of the words pentagon and citadel, referring to the fact that there are five planets in the system and the fact that in between the outermost planet orbiting the main star and the Pentadel lies the Pillars Of The Ecliptic Plane.

Government

The various governments located all over the five planets can be considered a loose confederacy, though nothing is official.

Defences

The Pillars Of The Ecliptic plane make transport between the main star and little red difficult, making for a good natural defense.

Industry & Trade

Exports of methane to the inner solar system as well to the inner planets of the Pentadel mainly comes from from the methane worlds furthest from little red. There are occasional exports of fauna from the brine worlds as an exotic food or for scientific experimentation.

Infrastructure

All planets have at least one Skyhook to reduce propellant needed on cargo ships. Laser stations are currently in construction for laser sail propelled ships.

Architecture

All buildings are located downwind of cliff faces or have been engineered to deal with the constant hurricane winds on the inner planet. The two brine worlds face the same problem, though with the additional difficulty of maintaining their integrity in such a high salinity environment.

Geography

The Pentadel is a very tight solar system orbiting around the main star at 25AU making the main solar system a binary. Outward of the main star is a large field of small icy bodies. Inward travel towards the main star is blocked in most areas due to the large and unusually dense clouds of gas (Ecliptic Pillars).

Natural Resources

The Pentadel has at its disposal the largest volume of methane in the entire solar system.
