Clusnille

Tucked into the seaside hills on the southern rim of the Yollande Sea is a small, but dense town. Many are the ships that will make a stop here before continuing their journey. The town has little to offer such ships in the way of supplies. The founder of the town was a particularly louche bard. She set up camp in the hills looking for inspiration for her next great song. They stayed so long the area acquired a reputation for the raging parties the bard so enjoyed. Soon, ships would anchor offshore to wait to see the bonfires before coming closer. It wasn’t long after that ships would bring extra supplies for the expansion of the camp. With a motivated group of volunteers working, the work went fast. Word spread and within the year the camp became a small town. At the town’s founding the bard that started it all sang the completed song she had struggled with. The ensuing celebration lasted a week with a significant flotilla of ships moored offshore. Shipping on the Yollande was nearly non-existent. It was natural that some did not want to leave the new town, and the town attracted others of like mind. Nearby governments have a dim view of the situation. After seeing their own municipalities’ rowdiness diminish they quietly allow it to persist. That does not mean things are in the clear for the town. There are many detractors that feel its dionysian nature only spreads illicit behavior that should not be condoned. Several efforts have been made by groups espousing chaste agendas have proved fruitless. In the face of such animosity, the Courtesan’s Guild maintains a public office that is rumored to be the headquarters of the region. Not to be outdone, musicians, buskers, and other entertainers have set up their respective guilds. The town has a few special events throughout the year, each one hosted by its respective guilds and lasting for several days. There is also a period of one month in the town where residents curtail the festive atmosphere. For this brief time, an outsider may make the mistake of thinking they are in a quiet backwater village.
