Duskwatch

Created as an elite 'police force', the Duskwatch is never openly discussed by the public. While people know that they exist, it is believed that speaking the name will simply bring their attention. The Duskwatch is said to make people disappear should they speak words against the glory and righteousness of The God-King, may he live forever, all while never being seen doing it. Acceptance into the Duskwatch is considered the greatest honor and is accompanied with a hefty gift of wealth and standing for the family of the child they are considered to have 'lost' to the cause.

Structure

While the God-King utilizes the Duskwatch as his personal military strikeforce eliminating herecy and heretics with a breath of a command, the Duskwatch does have an internal power structure beyond their highest commander. Each Pillar city has their own command center for the passage of information, orders, and supplies. Each command center is run by the Watch Commander of that city. The watch commander is then in charge of a number of smaller groups of Duskwatch organized into Columns. These Columns utilize a system of organization on a mission by mission basis. The member of the column with the most experience in the field in which they are endeavoring will lead the mission for their Column. Deference to experience.

Public Agenda

The motivation of the Duskwatch is the God-King's bidding, however, they also focus on maintaining the power balance. Missions might include the assassination of people that have garnered too much favor among the public, or arranging the downfall of businesses and organizations that might contest the God-King's social hold over the populous.

Assets

Backed by the God-King himself, Duskwatch has little need for anything. Every column recieves a monthly stipend. While it is forbidden for the watch to take pay, as pay is seen to be a corrupting force, this stipend is more than enough monthly to support the members, their tasks, and their living expenses with plenty left over.

Choosing to join the Duskwatch is giving up a former life and former ties. Duskwatch are 'reborn'. They are given new names and their former identities are never spoken of again. Their families are paid off to mourn their children and those ties are considered severed. While it is a great honor to lose your child to the watch, it is something that is quietly feared among the elite or those with only one heir.
