Crystals

In the western regions of Kaeoma, magic is relatively weak. So the citizens there make do with crystals.

Description

The Crystals that are used for fuel specifically are typically clear, and turn purple once magic is placed within it. They can vary in size, which is useful for the variety of magitech machines that they power. They are usually long so that they fit in easily to charging slots, although some are crushed into powder for other uses. These crystals are highly resistant to most elements. It is unknown whether they can even be melted at all.

Manufacturing

The crystals are usually mined by the Dwarves in the magic-doused mountains of the north east. They are then transported outside of the mountains to a teleport station. Dwarves are very particular about having teleport stations, and outsiders for that matter, within their colonies. The crystals are then transported to the "plant," an actual tree which draws and collects magic from a large surrounding area at a very fast rate. Efforts are being made to propagate more of these, but it will be centuries before they grow large enough to have satisfactory production value. Once the crystals have been filled with energy, they are then carefully teleported to another point in central Kaeoma. In this state, interaction with spatial magic is highly agitating for what is essentially magic grenades. There, they are distributed among the western cities.

Environmental Impact

In the past, it seemed as though the Crystals would always be found. However, while minor, there have been recorded steady declines in production as time goes on. It is believed that the Crystals are not endless, and efforts are being made to recover and recycle used Crystals.
