The Arcane Reactor and Transmission Tower (TARTT)

The TARTT is a magical device that records and observes the patterns in Ammaran's magical atmosphere. It is housed at the Tarrat Towers, and was invented by Livia Payne Gaposchkin in her study for her PhD.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Built out of platinum with tellurium inlays, the TARTT interacts with the magic in the atmosphere of a vicinity of about 5km. It detects and processes the movement and changes in the flow of magic, due to the metals within it. It stands on a base of lead and is kept in its own room in the 5th Tower.
Livia Payne Gaposchkin is working on constructing a smaller and more compact TARTT to take out on field trips and survey other areas of the land to recorded magical flux.

Significance

Has contributed greatly to the understanding of the way magic moves and interacts with the land, and can help predict magical storms and potentially deadspots. Has also lead to a growing interest in the applications of sciences in the arcane, and has lead to the development of new techniques in alchemy. Also has impacted the way the Towers relate to the wider world/has made them open up a little more.
