Rum Drunk

Being drunk on rum in Ammaran is similar to how I imagine it is on Earth. Unpleasant for most. Rum is favoured by pirates along the Frigello Coast, ad is found in large quantities in taverns owned by said pirates in the capital city of Ammaran. It is an acquired taste, or so I've been told.

Transmission & Vectors

From drinking too much rum (very pirate-y). Caused by an overdoes of the chemical compound ethanol, though many more un-learned in alchemy think it is caused by the devil drink.

Causes

Rum. And poor choices. also sometimes peer pressure and guilt. but mainly pirates because they are sexy.

Symptoms

Puking, staggering, slurred speech, loss of co-ordination, really bad diarrhoea, making bad choices.

Treatment

Time, sleep, water, and food full of carbohydrates. SOme cnatrips can also ease physical symptoms, but not cure the condition.

Prognosis

A bad night or two, if consumption continues, possible death.

Sequela

Consistent drunkenness can lead to a resistance to the affects of alcohol over time.

Affected Groups

One4 particular professor at the Tarrat Towers has an affinity for being drunk on rum, and is often seen by students and scholars alike with a bottle near her. Professor R Fiddlesticks is a known alcoholic, which affects her ability to access and control magic. However, many think this adds to her charm and assume that she is burdened by an immense power which she must drink to suppress. This isn't quite true. she has a lot of guilt.

Hosts & Carriers

Rum comes from sugarcane molasses, so I guess that plant carries the potential for the condition.

Prevention

DON'T DRINK and stay away from pirates ;)

Epidemiology

Bars and Taverns are often the epicentre for this condition.

History

Hasw been happeing for as long as rum has been around (quite a while).

Pirates love it.
