Peoples Guard

The peoples guard are the most common type of guard that you will see outside of large towns and cities in Maramime, the peoples guard are people who volunteer to go through the most basic combat and law training in Marolk. Once they have passed they either go back to their small town/village to be peoples guards or they get stationed somewhere else in Maramime to be peoples guards. The Peoples guard crest is commonly printed onto blue banners and hung in the windows of their residence, along side being placed on part of ones guard uniform.   After the Fallingsemal there were large debates on if more peoples guards should be trained up, to guard the villages from the new monster threats, however the amount of manpower taken away to train loads of basic guards or to train up higher level ones was marked as not being worth it. Instead money was invested into funding adventurers as they are not locked to one place like a guard and can go off to investigate things and reinforce efforts.

History

The peoples guards was originally founded by Marcus Owen the previous King before King Owen, when Marcus Owen was just a Prince he saw how plenty of towns and villages in Maramime had no way of arresting their criminals or keeping a close eye on suspicious figures who would normally get away with little conflict outside of the big towns and cities. The young Prince spent several years of protest to his father in order to convince him it was necessary, it was only when the king tasked some Masked ones to raid a large black market in the capital Marolk that he saw the issue as with so many criminals running away they completely lost loads of them as soon as they got out of the capital, so with no leads the kings guards and Masked ones couldn't do anything.
