NexusNet

"Sure, worlds that have an internet have their virtual ups and downs in their own spheres, but then you have the NexusNet that is several entire worlds' worth of these ups and downs. You can have great works of world-uniting fan fiction posted next to an inflammatory diatribe of how a certain world's famous female ruler is "a waifu who ain't worth s***."
- Mel Moriope, NexusNet streaming personality
The NexusNet is an internet-like infrastructure that connects most worlds in the Akatasphere. Like regular internet systems, it has pages accessed through corresponding link addresses. Forums are popular on the NexusNet, particularly because its live chat services are limited in function and still under development (consider how difficult it is to sync information across one world, and multiply that).   The most popular service on the NexusNet, aside from forums for various interests and purposes, is a news feed-like website where people post short updates and "follow" each other for updates. The website, called Egger, was originally intended to make sure that people would be aware of news across the Akatasphere, but it evolved a more social aspect as well, and today there are people connecting every day using it (and exchanging pictures of beauty tips and food).

NexusNet as Archive

The NexusNet contains a wealth of written information on its mysterious servers, from fiction (based on existing works and original alike) to recipes to research material. Its formatting tools may not seem particularly impressive to those with regular internet access in their own worlds, but the sheer scope and variety of information contained on the NexusNet renders it an impressive archive of information on the Akatasphere. While there is a bias towards content from the most connected worlds, the NexusNet is a sort of living documentation of life in the Akatasphere.   Users also regularly upload art and other creations on the NexusNet, though uploading media tends to be a bit slower than writing. In this respect, the NexusNet is an archive for culture along with information. Relatedly, it should go without saying, but memes propagate across worlds with ease through the NexusNet.

NexusNet as Communication

Though communication features aren't quite as instant as some would like, they certainly exist. People leave messages on Egger for each other all the time, and there are always forums for people to discuss their interests. The live chat messenger, Featherpen, is in a sort of beta where groups are limited while kinks are worked out, but it exists. Just like social media within a world, the NexusNet allows people across worlds to connect and know what's going on across the universe.

Who Runs This Anyway?

It's classified and no one knows, but people joke about "bird gods" being the admins.

A meme from the NexusNet, which seems to have been stolen from several worlds and remixed until its context became obscure.
