Abraham Duradin Rayleigh

"I have always believed in the unity of all religions you know? We are all together in this world, so might as well work together instead of being divided over whether a god was born in a certain place or not"   Attributed to Abraham Duradin Rayleigh
Across the Terran Imperium, many people can be hesitant to reveal their religion. Some prefer to say that they believe all religions are equal and that they are part of a multitude of other religions. Whilst some may say exactly this but sum it up in one word: Abrahamism   More of a religious and social movement than a full blown religion, Abrahamism depends on the pillars that not only are most if not all religions willing to teach peace and kindness, most are same and this includes the Abrahamic religions of Terra. Whilst there are further denominations in the movement such as Abrahamite christians who prefer to lean closer to orthodox interpretations of their religion, the majority still accept the value of Abrahamism as it was preached by Abraham Duradin during the early days of the empire.   Born into a wealthy family in Scotland, Abraham was known to be one of the very first humans who ventured out of the solar system, alongside a select group chosen for the exploration and colonization of the local stellar neighbourhood. During his time aboard the colony ship Jorumgandr, he saw many religious arguements and debates and with the discovery of sapient aliens, his own faith in Christianity had weakened to a large extent and the final nail in the coffin came when the existence of demons, foul creatures from the void were confirmed   Though Abraham remained mostly atheistic in his later life, he had begun preaching that all religions were not only equal but closely related and in cases, even brothers perhaps. His faith began gaining ground when the populace of the Terran Imperium seemed to have lost all hope after the first demonic incursions into Imperial space. It kept them motivated and it has been said that one of the key reasons for humanity surviving the first demonic onslaughts was due to the motivation wrought upon by Abrahamism   His faith spread like wildfire after mankinds first victories against the demons. Over the course of centuries, ages after Abraham had died, his teachings spread across the stars and even aliens began taking it up. In time, Abrahamism became the largest religion in the Terran Imperium, if it can be called that. Based upon the ideals of kindness, selflessness, love for all and tolerance, Abrahamism became a key form of the Imperiums governmental policies, to strive for the betterment of everyone else   In the last days of the third millenium, Abrahamism is again a strong motivator for a populace beset by war and danger. Even though all hope seems lost, the teachings of Duradin persist like a lighthouse in a stormy sea, and its inhabitants have sworn that it will outlast the foul teachings of the breaker, no matter what the cost may be
